Born in Montreal, Quebec but raised on the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia, 21-year-old Rachel Lau has been immersed in a multitude of cultures from a very young age. Since elementary school, she observed the concept of multiculturalism and how it embodied her childhood experiences. She also discovered the varying sensitivities in which it was perceived in her community and the limitations in which patience for social cohesion could extend.
Currently in her last year at Concordia University in Montreal, she studies in the Specialized Journalism program and minors in both Political Science and Études Françaises. Through her education in Canada and France at L’Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris, she has applied her visual creativity and experience in radio, television, photography, print and online journalism to fuel her human rights activism to further develop and encourage a generation of media that is free from stereotypes and racism.
