Alicia Gerrior is currently a journalism student at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta and is the arts and entertainment writer for her school’s newspaper, The Weal. While she loves all aspects of writing, her favourite part of writing articles is interviewing her subjects. Her curiosity and love of learning about others helps her writing immensely. Alicia aspires to have a career as an entertainment journalist. After attending a discussion on ethnicity in the media held by the UNA, Alicia came to the realization that a career in the media would place her in a position of power, and that she could help to inspire change in Canada’s media. Her newly founded outlook cemented her media ambitions. Alicia is grateful to the UNA M&M program for selecting her as a 2012 intern. She would like to help spread the M&M message and be an example of the media representing all Canadians.
